Empathy Driven Designer

I'm Kanagaraj - Raj - a UI/UX Designer at Numentica UI, based in Chennai. My work starts long before any wireframe. I believe that every pixel earns its place only after you've understood the person it's meant to serve. Before I open Figma, I'm in the field - conducting user interviews, running competitive audits, mapping journey flows, synthesising patterns from real human frustration.

Growing up obsessed with how things feel to use - why one app delights and another exhausts - led me naturally into design. I've spent years honing a research-first philosophy that puts empathy at the core of every decision. At Numentica UI, that philosophy shapes how the whole team approaches product challenges: listen first, design second.

Design Thinker

Good design isn't decoration - it's a solution. I map the full journey from pain point to pixel, because a beautiful interface that solves the wrong problem is still the wrong interface.

On Anyform, I discovered that paralegals and visa consultants were spending an average of 155 minutes filling the DS-160 form - every single time, for every single client. That's 15+ hours a week per paralegal, entirely on mechanical repetition. I didn't just redesign the form - I redesigned the entire workflow, reducing a 155-minute process to under 15 minutes.

Code Aware Designer

The best handoff I've ever done was the one where the developer asked zero questions. I understand component logic, auto-layout constraints, design tokens, and what "responsive" actually means in code - not just in Figma. This lets me design things that are both beautiful and buildable.

Working closely with engineers has made me a sharper designer. I've learned to think in systems - design systems, component libraries, spacing scales - so that every screen I ship feels like it belongs to the same product universe. The gap between design and engineering isn't a technical problem. It's a communication problem. I've made closing that gap part of my craft.

Let's create something worth using.
